BORDEAUX

Bordeaux is the largest wine region in France by acreage under vine. Typically produces medium to full body reds from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, and Petit Verdot. While Carmenere and Malbec are also allowed they are hardly present in Bordeaux anymore. The whites are mostly made with Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, can be aged in stainless steel for a crisp wine, or new oak for a richer styles.

The region is further divided into 4 sub-regions: The Medoc (Left Bank) and the Libournais (Right Bank). With Cabernet Sauvignon being the king of the Left  Bank and Merlot dominating the Right Bank. Graves, being the oldest wine producing area in Bordeaux, and Entre-deux-Mers which manly produces whites.
